Through this course, students will engage with a variety of photographic styles, approaches, and practices. Lectures, fieldwork, research, group and individual practices will vary for each weekly topic. Students will be encouraged to embrace variety, but also to consider how their interests and concepts can marry-up with particular aspects/methods of the course. Topics will include: historical process techniques and experimentation (lumen printing, the cyanotype, and the ziatype process), digital printing and techniques (including creating digital negatives for alternative processes), artist and gallery visits, and a small book arts project.
