The Arnold Newman Prize

The Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture recognizes excellence in a new generation of photographers by awarding $20,000 to a photographer whose work demonstrates a compelling new vision in the genre of portraiture. Established in 2009 by the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation, the prize is generously funded by the Foundation and proudly administered by Maine Media.

Book Artist in Residence

This month-long residency in October is designed to support a practicing book artist in the completion of any project that combines word and image in an innovative book form. The resident has unlimited access to our dedicated book arts studio and receives a weekly stipend, materials support, a travel stipend, meals on campus, and housing options.

Zeiss Precision Image Competition

PIC is an opportunity for all MMW students to experience the unparalleled image quality of Zeiss lenses while challenging themselves to create new still and moving pictures for a dynamic competition. Zeiss provides a wide selection of lenses for still and cinema cameras for students to “test-drive” while on campus. The grand prize winner in each category will receive a Zeiss SLR lense of their choice from the Batis, Loxia, Touit, Milvus, Classics, or ZM line.
