HEALTH INSURANCE

Maine Media is pleased to offer health insurance to full-time, year-round employees. Participation in Maine Media’s health insurance plan is strictly voluntary.

Once employees have been employed for a certain period of time (Currently first day of the month following a 30-day waiting period), they may opt into or opt out of Maine Media’s health insurance plan.

DECEMBER 1, 2023 - NOVEMBER 30, 2024 PLAN YEAR DOCUMENTS

Enrollment Form is due within 30 days of eligibility date.
Failure to enroll by the eligibility date may delay enrollment until Maine Media’s open enrollment month, December.

 

HEALTH INSURANCE OPT OUT STIPEND

Maine Media’s health insurance eligible employees, who choose not to enroll in the company sponsored health insurance plan may receive a weekly stipend to help cover cost for a policy they may have elsewhere. Employees must be covered under another plan and provide proof of insurance to receive the stipend. The stipend applies only to the employee. Dependents DO NOT qualify for the opt out stipend. The stipend is considered income and will be taxed as such. Opt out stipend is only available to an employee during open enrollment period, a qualifying event, or a new hire. 9-, 10- or 11-months employees will be paid the stipend based on the number of months worked and benefit will be paid based on the payment option chosen.

Form must be completed and submitted along with a copy of a valid insurance card in order for stipend to begin.
