Guided by cinematographer Polly Morgan (A Quiet Place: Part II, American Horror Story), examine how framing, lenses, and lighting can be used to maximum effect to convey the emotions and psychology of a story. Analyzing and discussing scenes from her body of work will show you how to plan shots to make scenes land with impact. Polly’s credits as a cinematographer include feature films, television, commercials, documentaries, and music videos. She is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC). To date, she is the only woman to be a member of both.

Instructor: Polly Morgan ASC, BSC

Polly Morgan’s credits as a cinematographer include feature films, television, commercials, documentaries, and music videos. She is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and the British Society of Cinematographers. To date, she is the only woman to be a member of both. Her feature credits include A Quiet Place: Part II (Paramount), Lucy in the Sky (Fox Searchlight), Where the Crawdads Sing (Sony), The Woman King (Sony), Spinning Man (Lionsgate), The Intervention (Paramount), Marmalade, the 2023 directorial debut of actor Keir O’Donnell, and independent features that have played at Sundance and Tribeca  Her television work includes Legion (multiple seasons), Strange Angel, From Darkness, Call the Midwife, and American Horror Story.  She has shot commercials for BMW, Facebook, Lufthansa, Duracell, and other international brands. 

Polly attended the American Film Institute’s AFI Conservatory as a Fulbright Scholar and graduated with an MFA in Cinematography.  She is also an alum of Maine Media Workshops.
