We are thrilled to present Jakob Ihre, one of today’s most exciting cinematographers, in this master class and final session of the Cinematography Masters Series.
Jakob was awarded an Emmy, a BAFTA, and a BSC award for shooting the acclaimed HBO limited series CHERNOBYL. In this session, he will discuss case studies from his body of work, including shooting this astonishing five-part series, a television phenomenon that was nominated for nineteen Emmys. It would go on to win ten Emmys, including one for Outstanding Limited Series, as well as multiple Golden Globes. It received widespread praise for its cinematography and tone.
Jakob’s feature films include THE END OF THE TOUR, directed by James Ponsoldt and starring Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segel, LOLA VERSUS, directed by Daryl Wein and starring Greta Gerwig, and several features for director Joachim Trier. Other credits include Jason Segel’s AMC series DISPATCHES FROM ELSEWHERE, and three documentaries with director Michale Boganim. He has shot commercials for Bvlgari, Prada, Volvo, Nissan, Audi, Ikea, Nike, and others.
He graduated from National Film and Television School in London and forged a creative relationship with fellow NFTS graduate Joachim Trier that would result in several collaborations. The 2015 film, THE END OF THE TOUR, about writer David Foster Wallace, marked the Swedish cinematographer’s first English language movie.
We are delighted to add that Jakob is also an alum of Maine Media Workshops.
