NOTE: This course will be held in an online format using the Zoom Platform.
Class will meet from 10am-6pm EDT

This advanced course is for working cinematographers and filmmakers who want to explore the robust capabilities of the DSLR/M in shooting cinematic non-fiction stories. We will cover technical and aesthetic considerations of using these cameras, and discuss their pros and cons when weighed against high-end systems like the RED Camera, or ARRI ALEXA.

We will discuss options for peripheral gear such as 3-axis gimbal stabilizers, and we will explore the many possibilities of turning your DSLR/M into a fully capable cinema camera.

Lastly, we will discuss advanced post-production workflow including Log, color space, and the use of LUTs. Student exercises will be critiqued for composition, camera operation, and visual storytelling. Students will leave the workshop with the skills and knowledge to tell effective non-fiction stories with DSLR and mirrorless cameras. This course is a  Follow-Up to the Basic Nonfiction DSLR & Mirrorless Cinematography course. Beginner/Intermediate filmmakers who wish to take this advanced course will need to take the basic unit as a prerequisite.
