This class is geared for anyone who wants to learn how to use more advanced features and tools in Photoshop to work on images. Students must have taken Photoshop for Photographers or, an introductory level Photoshop course prior to registration and must be familiar with adjustment layers, blending modes, layer masks and basic photoshop tools. You will need to have Adobe Photoshop installed on your computer and have worked in the application. The class will meet for 4 sessions, each for 2 hours. Please allow additional time in your schedule if the class gets interactive and goes over.
This is a Photoshop cooking class, (2hr) lessons each session. Each class will break into approximately three 15-20 min lessons (this is the watching part of the show and tell), three 15-20 min Demos (this is where you launch the app and Follow along), and include 15 min for Q & A. We will take a break halfway through the class time. Some of the sessions will focus on demonstration and definitions but there is always time for you to demonstrate what you have learned. Below is an outline of some of the amazing functions of Adobe Photoshop we will cover.
Lesson 1: More Tools to make editing easier – so, you have the basic move crop and brush tools down. Now, what do you do with and why would you use some of the other tools?

Lesson 2: Actions – The toolbar and the menus of Photoshop are full of editing choices. Let’s talk about how to speed up your editing so you can get back to shooting – why we are in Photoshop to start.

Lesson 3: Fixing Photos Faster – Using the tools in Photoshop to rebuild issues in photos from portrait to landscape. How to use automation to make this process easier and faster in your image edits.

Lesson 4: The Layers and Adjustments – This area will take you from an understanding of layers into editing with Layers and masks. We will also cover one of the most useful masking tools Luminosity Masking.

Mickey Strand, Navy Photographers Mate Chief Petty Officer retired, is a working Photographer & instructor living in San Diego, Ca. He is enjoying his second career after 24 years of active service, traveling and shooting with occasional teaching stops for ACME educational, Maine Media Workshops, and Madeline Island School of the Arts.
