Seeking Gallery Representation to Enter the Commercial Marketplace 3 - Alice Zimet

It’s not enough to take photographs. Photographers also must learn to get out into the commercial marketplace. This 8-session workshop is aimed toward photographers who have a body of work and want to access the market.

Taught by a pioneer collector, Alice Sachs Zimet, this series offers hands-on strategies and practical tips on how to gain representation, advance your practice, and get collected. We’ll cover a different subject each session, ranging from the questions collectors ask, how to find and best approach a gallery, to how to promote and brand yourself.

During the final three classes, each student will present work and promotional materials, followed by peer critique. Students will walk away more confident, prepared, and aware of how the fine art photography marketplace works and how to best dive in.

Testimonials

“Alice offered insight and answered questions that are on all photographers’ minds — how to work with galleries (and which ones), how to price, editions and how to effectively present ourselves…  Alice seemed to anticipate our needs and offered incredible and abundant handouts.” – Steven B.

“Your class had an enormous influence on how I talk about my practice.  You’ve given me so much confidence to put my work out into the world.  In fact, my photographs were selected for the Helsinki Photo Festival out of 500 entries from around the world!  You are the best!”  – Cindy B.

“I walked away with a bouquet of new ways to market my work…” – Pauline M. R.
