Learn the techniques, methodologies and aesthetics of color correction and grading.

This workshop is an introduction to digital color correction and grading using DaVinci Resolve. Utilizing a workshop atmosphere in combination with lectures, demonstrations and projects, students will take their first steps toward a technical understanding of the art and craft of color correction and grading for digital video.

Class covers the digital color grading workflow from initial resolve setup and color theory to node structures and delivery.  Students learn the tools and nuances of color matching and how to take projects to the next level with graded looks.

In addition to be offered on an individual basis, the July date for this course is also optional Week 3 of the 8 Week Editing and Post Production Intensive

Winter/Spring Session Info: Lodging and meal package available for $475. Includes breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday. Dinner services are not available during our Winter/Spring session. Meal plan (mandatory) without lodging $125. Plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon/evening to be rested for your workshop which will begin Monday morning, following registration. Workshops will end late Friday afternoon. Lodging is booked for a Saturday departure.

Charles Haine (Summer Dates)

Charles Haine is a currently an assistant professor at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College. He has been a filmmaker and entrepreneur working in the motion picture industry since 1999, and received his MFA from USC in 2006. Haine founded the Academy Award nominated production company Dirty Robber in 2008 which has gone on to success in feature films and short films, as well as commercials and music videos. He also founded Coyote Post and was part of the inception of cinelicious.tv.

David Martinez (Fall Dates)

David Martinez is a producer and cinematographer known for his cinematic approach to non-fiction storytelling. David has traveled the world as a cinematographer and colorist. His immersion in film productions, both in the camera department as well as the post-production department, has given him a broad perspective on the relationship between the creative and technical aspects of visual storytelling. As a media producer, his clients include Universal Music, Warner Music, McKinsey & Company, and Volvo.
