Take your student film program, courses, and gear to the next level

There are no available registration dates at this time.

NOTE: This class will be held in an online format using the Zoom Platform.

If you’re already a film teacher or professor, or have worked in the industry, or have already taken our Film & Video Teachers Workshop, this more advanced online workshop is designed for you. If you’re looking to launch a new course or program, reinvigorate your curriculum, discuss the latest school-budget gear, and have an inspiring week talking and working with film teachers from around the world, come join us online while we use Zoom backdrops from the Maine coastline.

In the mornings we’ll share our best and latest practices as film instructors, with reflections on teaching film production before Covid19 and more importantly creating inspirational classroom experiences now. We’ll discuss crafting classes that are nimble and able to adapt quickly to evolving situations that affect working in a collaborative industry. We’ll share our best curricula, lessons, exercises, projects, gear and workflow recommendations, and student work. We’ll discuss how we teach composition and framing, lighting, editing, coloring, and other techniques. We’ll explore approaches to teaching storytelling in narrative and documentary forms, and share our successes and learning moments in guiding our students through a production. We’ll weigh different approaches to assessment, critiques, roles, and risks. We’ll discuss budgets, gear and workspaces, and our favorite books, online resources, and tutorials.

This will be a collaborative class. You can expect to have the same experiences all of our students have so you can see how these experiences can translate to your teaching environment.

We are filmmakers, storytellers, and educators. Our lives and pursuits have undergone a change. We choose not to stop, but to continue our crafts and engage the next generation while creating a safe space for them to learn, experiment, and find a unique voice to share with the world.
