Rich Underwood is an award-winning commercial, documentary, and branded content director/cinematographer. His path to telling a good story is informed by the reality of his doc work and his doc work benefits from the constructs he applies from narrative filmmaking. With work that spans the breadth of visual media, Rich has lensed assignments around the globe:  Paris to Beijing, LA to London, New York to Frankfurt., with clients including Blue Cross, Nissan, Infinity, Singer, NCR, American Airlines, Marriott, Qualcomm, Gateway, to name a few.

Rich’s influence on the industry does not end at the lens. He designed the Birdcage Lantern manufactured and sold globally by Chimera Lighting. He authored the highly acclaimed book “Roll !” published by Focal Press and used in seminars and universities around the world. He is an Adjunct Professor at San Diego State University teaching Advanced Cinematography and the Advanced Filmmaking capstone course. And now, returning to the Maine Media Workshops virtually from California.
