Understanding the editor’s job of combining images, words, and audio into a cohesive and engaging body of work is essential for all filmmakers. Adobe’s Premiere has become the preferred software choice for many professional editors.

Topics include: understanding the interface, importing and managing media, building and fine tuning the rough cut, working with sound, working with titles and graphics, the basics of color correction, exporting and sharing your projects.

This course is designed for students with little to no editing experience. We will start with the basics and build from there. It is also good for self-taught editors who would like to break their bad habits.

The format is based around live demos from the instructor and some short assignments for the students to practice each tool and technique taught in the class.

Class meets daily starting at 10am Eastern. We will generally wrap between 4 and 5pm. There will also be One-on-One sessions with the instructor to address specific questions and needs

As this class is held in an online format, students must have Adobe Premiere installed on their home computer.  If you don’t currently subscribe to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, you might consider subscribing for a single month (~$30) to test-drive the program during the workshop. Or, you may elect to use Adobe’s free one-week trial period instead. (If you choose the free trial, be sure to wait until the day before course begins before you make the download, as your free trial will expire after the 7-day period.
