Class meets Saturday and Sunday August 7-8, 2021

This course is designed for high school-aged students who are interested in filmmaking and want to take their camera skills to a new level. In this class we will focus on DSLR & Mirrorless cameras, which, due to their affordability and capability, have become a mainstay for young filmmakers.

First we cover the basics of the camera. How does it work, and what what creative & technical decisions do we make each time we pick it up to shoot? There will be lessons on choosing camera settings for the desired look of video using ISO, aperture, color temperature, shutter speed, frame rate, and lens selection. You will work hands-on, practicing shooting in a variety of scenarios, and will leave the workshop equipped with fundamental skills and a deeper understanding of what’s possible with the camera as a tool.

Prerequisite:
No previous knowledge or experience required.

As this class will be held remotely, students should plan to have their own Mirrorless or DLSR (Or DSLR-like) camera at home with video recording capability and the ability to transfer the files onto your computer.
