Spend two days exploring the rapidly evolving world of Augmented & Virtual Reality.  Then connect with leading VR creators at the Camden International Film Festival.* NOTE: Tuition includes an All Access Pass to the Camden International Film Festival which immediately follows this workshop.

The advent of immersive technologies has opened up a new realm of storytelling possibilities. Dive into the cutting-edge of Augmented and Virtual Reality in a two-day crash course focused on exploring how documentary stories can thrive in this new medium. This unique course will enable filmmakers and other media artists to take part in the rapidly expanding tradition of interactive and immersive documentary. It will introduce participants to the latest production techniques, as well as creative strategies for ideating and realizing projects.

Over the course of the two days, students will work hands-on with tools such as DepthKit and Reality Capture as they learn how to bring 3D worlds to life. The course will oscillate between theory and practice, both critiquing the latest immersive experiences and imagining what comes next.

Following the 2-day crash course, participants will have an opportunity to attend the Camden International Film Festival and connect with some of the world’s leading VR artists and practitioners. The 2019 festival will feature Storyforms:  a showcase of VR and immersive documentary.

This workshop was created in partnership with the Camden International Film Festival. Tuition includes an All Access Pass (worth $225) to the 2019 Camden International Film Festival and the Points North Documentary Forum. Recognized as one of the top 12 documentary film festivals in the world, CIFF brings the finest nonfiction cinema to the coast of Maine, showcasing over 80 documentary feature and short films from around the globe each fall.
