COVID-19 Update – April 14, 2021
COVID-19 UPDATE 4/14/2021
Dear Maine Media Community,
I am truly excited to be the first to welcome you all back to our Rockport campus! Provost Elizabeth Greenberg and the program staff are organizing a rich series of in-person programs beginning July 19, and continuing through November of this year. Starting April 15th, many classes will be accepting applications, and many more will be added to the schedule in the coming weeks. It is a broad and inspiring range of courses, tracing every discipline at Maine Media. And while space is limited, campus life promises to be filled with the human energy and magic that makes Maine Media the place to expand your creative ambitions.
With all of the optimism for a compelling time ahead, the health and safety of our community remains the priority. We must ensure a safe environment for creative inquiry. We have engaged a community task force to monitor and create guidelines to ensure a healthy campus. Maine Media is closely following guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Maine, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. We are also closely following State of Maine mandated travel restrictions and quarantine requirements. The situation around the pandemic, vaccination rates and public health is quickly evolving. And as guidelines for public safety are updated, Maine Media will act accordingly.
With this in mind, we are committing to the following requirement. Full vaccinations will be required for any and all participants attending in-person events, activities, courses and programs. This requirement will be strictly enforced and applies to students, staff, instructors or other attendees to Maine Media’s programming and presentations. If you are unable to obtain a vaccination for any reason but still wish to participate in Maine Media’s programs, we encourage you to explore our remote and online programs.
We accept that the situation around the pandemic is fluid, but we are cautiously optimistic that the summer will present every opportunity to come together again in Rockport. I fully expect state and federal agencies to update recommendations in the coming months and weeks. As such, we are adding some flexibility to our cancellation policies to provide some peace of mind for enrolling students. In the event that you need to cancel your enrollment for any COVID-19 related concern up to 30 days from the start of the course, Maine Media will waive cancellation fees and issue a full refund.
Maine Media is shaping a COVID-19 Campus Safety Guide that prioritizes the health and safety of our staff, students, instructors and community participants. This guide will detail expected safety practices, mask requirements and physical distancing and disinfectant protocols. It will also list the expectations and behaviors that we will ask of all participants. As the situation develops, both the guide and regular updates will be accessible.
