Launch a career in the lucrative world of voiceover.
Sep 13, 2020 - Sep 19, 2020
Workshop Fee: $1195
Class Size: 12 (max)
The market for voiceover is huge, and it just continues to expand. It’s a field in which both union and non-union talent can find and win lucrative jobs. But what makes for a successful read? How do we capture the listener?
In this course, we’ll explore how to create compelling reads in any type of material. We’ll also learn how to break down a script or commercial copy so we can deliver a voiceover that powerfully and emotionally speaks to the target audience.
Classroom discussions and daily practice sessions will cover a variety of voiceover disciplines including commercial and promo, audiobook, industrial, character (animation and video games) and film trailer narrations. Students will learn how to give, receive and process in-the-moment direction, and how to identify and use the cues provided in the script to create their particular successful read.
We will also review the practical logistics of setting up the home studio, using software editing programs, creating audio profiles for online platforms to land jobs, and crafting the competitive audition read. All students will leave with mp3s and/or wav files of their work.
The field is changing rapidly and it’s never been easier for beginning voiceover artists to break in, and for experienced voiceover artists to take more direct control over their careers and expand into new areas of the voiceover market.
[NOTE: This workshop is also recommended for directors as they will learn the art of directing the effective voiceover. Directors of narrative films and television shows, documentarians employing voiceover in their work, and producers and directors of corporate industrials will benefit from learning “the voiceover” from inside out, and will practice direction in class daily using a range of scripts.]
