Workshop Fee: $1095
Workshop Duration: 1-week (Monday-Friday)
Workshop Location: On-campus
Class Size: 8
This class is about letterpress minutiae on the Vandercook proof press. It’ll begin by examining the condition and operation of the presses because maintenance is make-ready. Then we’ll explore the print shop’s treasure of types, ornaments, inks, and papers. We’ll discuss your ideas and their feasibility, using traditional composition methods.
We’ll also consider some alternative techniques as well. Some options to explore are Collagraphic and Sandragraphs plates, photopolymer plates (purchased separately), and a few others. Ultimately, you’ll learn to control inking, impression, and registration.
