Guided by intimacy coordinator and actress Hanna Hall (Forrest Gump, The Virgin Suicides, Halloween), this workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of the role of an intimacy coordinator in film and television production. Participants will learn the processes involved in working with an intimacy coordinator, from script breakdown and discussions with the director/showrunner to private conversations with actors. The workshop will also cover the essential skills and techniques needed to safely and effectively perform intimacy and simulated sex scenes while maintaining storytelling integrity.

  • Analyzing the script for intimacy and simulated sex scenes.
  • Identifying potential challenges and risks.
  • Developing a plan for intimacy choreography.
  • Communicating with the creative team.
  • Establishing the director’s vision for the scene.

Instructor: Hanna Hall

Hanna (she/her) has been working professionally in the film industry for over 20 years. She won the Young Actors Award for her performance as Young Jenny in Forrest Gump at the age of nine and was nominated again for her role as Cecilia in Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides. She won Best Actress in the Beverly Hills Film Festival for her role in the indie film Happiness Runs. She has also performed in many intimate scenes, including her role in Rob Zombie's Halloween, and as a Guest Star in Masters of Sex. She has also guest-starred in episodes of Criminal Minds and The Purge. Her credits as intimacy coordinator include Netflix’s Tall Girl sequel, Daisy Jones and the Six, 1923, I’m a Virgo, Leverage: Redemption, and Queer as Folk. She is a graduate of Vancouver Film School where she studied production. Hanna's background as both a performer and working behind the camera in production gives her a unique perspective for understanding the needs of all parties involved. She believes that promoting a safe environment allows for the highest level of creativity possible.
