“Everything that deceives may be said to enchant.” (Plato)

Illusions are not only fascinating, they are powerful. An illusion plays with the line between knowing and seeing.  We think we “know” something but our eyes tell a different story. This class is about ways of exploring, discovering, developing, and utilizing the influence of illusions beyond mere tricks of seeing to compelling and poetic communication. We will employ illusionistic techniques through assignments, discussions and critiques.

We will have an online bulletin board for the class to use.  Students can post their images, or share thoughts, and interesting websites to check out. It is also where the weekly assignment will be posted as well as any Keynotes presented in class.

The class will meet on Mondays 10:00 – 12:00pm EST and again from 1:00 -2:00pm.  We will have individual critiques  on Wednesdays and Thursday.  Each student will meet with the instructor for 30 minutes each.

Students must have working knowledge of their camera and basic Photoshop skills.
