Break into the lucrative market of audiobook narration

There are no available registration dates at this time.

The audiobook market is experiencing explosive growth, increasing its audience by 20% to 30% annually over the last several years. This has created a window of real opportunity for those interested in breaking into audiobook narration. The emergence of production platforms like ACX.com and FindawayVoices.com allows narrators to connect easily with authors and publishers. It’s the perfect time to explore the potentially lucrative career of audiobook narration and production.

This two-day intensive begins with the basics of setting up an effective home studio at minimal cost. Consider recording equipment options and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software. Learn about the production requirements for the major online audiobook platforms. Then it’s a deep dive into how to shape winning reads – the ones that persuade authors to hire you to narrate their audiobooks and compel audiences to listen intently. Practice narrations on mic, get constructive critique of the work, and record samples to take home. Discover how to analyze text for cues on tone and genre delivery, determine POV (and how to handle shifting POVs), and practice delineating characterizations. Finally, learn how to explore and reveal the emotional truth – your emotional truth – that powers the best narrations in both fiction and non-fiction works.

This class is for anyone interested in pursuing work as an audiobook narrator, as well as any authors interested in narrating their own work to be sold in audiobook format on Audible/Amazon.
