Internationally acclaimed publisher & gallerist Maarten Schilt will present this lively course sharing his in-depth view of today’s publishing world. Through presentation and conversation you will learn all the considerations necessary to make an excellent photo book. Maarten will provide insights into the current marketplace for photo book publishing, and the steps necessary to successfully bringing a photo book project to realization, publication and distribution. The first question for all participants will be “Why do you want to make a book in the first place?”

Presentation topics will include a history of publishing and the shifts that have taken place through the financial crisis and the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic.  Maarten will review project ideas from each participant to offer insight into the viability of the projects and potential pathways to publication.

Class will meet on Saturday from 10 am – 12pm EDT and again 2 -4pm EDT.  On Sunday the class begins at 10am again and will run for at least two hours as project ideas are presented from each participant and allowing for feedback on each project.
