Julia Durgee is a Senior Marketing Analyst at L.L.Bean. She graduated from Cornell University in 2002 as an Outstanding Senior in the Textile & Apparel Design program. After several attempts to land a full-time, fashion illustration position, she found at happy home at EILEEN FISHER, Inc. in New York, designing graphics, email campaigns, and managing the post-production of web product images. By late nights and weekends, however, she was illustrating for fashion houses, authors, event marketing agencies, and self-produced her own comic, earning an American Illustration award in 2007. In 2010 she surprised herself by pursuing an M.B.A. at the University of Notre Dame with concentration in marketing after her father advised “There’s a lot of creativity to be found in business.” After graduating magna cum laude, she set off for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts in Orlando, FL. to learn digital marketing. After many (literal) roller coasters, she moved to Maine to work for another storied, American brand, helping them transform from a data-driven, direct marketer to a data+insights-driven brand. She grew and led L.L.Bean’s Facebook programmatic media buying program and is now in Consumer Insights helping L.L.Bean discover needs of new consumers in a vastly changing retail landscape.
