Eugene Gearty is an Oscar and Emmy-winning sound designer and sound editor.  He has worked extensively with Martin Scorsese, Joel & Ethan Coen, Spike Lee, Ang Lee, Jim Jarmusch, Barry Sonnenfeld, and Jonathan Demme. He won an Oscar for Best Sound Editing for Martin Scorsese’s film, HUGO, and an Emmy for his work on BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

His more than 100 credits include THE IRISHMAN, FARGO, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, DO THE RIGHT THING, LIFE OF PI, GANGS OF NEW YORK, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, MARY POPPINS RETURNS, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, INSIDE MAN, MEN IN BLACK, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, MALCOLM X, CASINO, BELOVED, and the Brian Wilson biopic LOVE & MERCY.

Shortly after graduating from the Berklee College of Music, he became one of the first digital sound editor/designers in the film industry, pioneering the use of the ACCESS and the Synclavier systems in creating sound effects for such films as SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, DO THE RIGHT THING and MEN IN BLACK.
