Through this interactive Open House, learn how our low-residency MFA in Media Arts at Maine Media provides students with a rigorous learning experience. Meet graduates who will showcase their work and discuss its evolution as they progress through the 3-year program. Learn how individualized mentoring helped transform their work beyond any imagined artistic boundaries.
The program and open house invite those who work in media art forms such as photography, filmmaking, video, time-based media, and book arts, as well as interdisciplinary and transmedia forms.
Individualized mentoring is the foundation of the program, while the low-residency nature of the program provides the flexibility for students to work on their projects off-campus with minimal disruption to employment or family life.

Maggie Meiners, Interdisciplinary Artist and Filmmaker, MFA graduate
“I have tremendous gratitude for my experience in the MFA program at Maine Media College. Through guided mentorship, friendships, and the overall community I was able to gain a deeper understanding about the meaning of my work, my artistic process and how it fits into the larger context of contemporary art.”
Rick Allred, Visual Artist, MFA graduate
“I have never felt more seen, heard, and empowered than I felt during my MFA program at Maine Media College. I came in as a photographer and left as an artist knowing that MY voice is an expression of joy and the generosity of the human spirit. My light is burning brighter than ever, and I will be shining and sharing it for the rest of my life.”
Lisa Beard, Photo-based Visual Artist, MFA graduate
“I am extremely grateful for my experience with Maine Media’s MFA program. Due to the individualized nature of the program, I was able to move at a pace that worked for me but also challenged me, which I needed. I also had the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and invested mentors who pushed me toward a place I wouldn’t have been able to guess I’d reach when I started the program. Along with the artistic and personal growth I came away with, I also gained confidence and a focused understanding of myself as an artist when considering my process and how I fit into the contemporary art world.”
