How does one navigate a career in the evolving landscape of television – an industry whose present volatility has led to a strike?

Michael Sardo, Emmy-nominated writer and executive producer, will examine how he has managed to maintain a creative and professional through line over his long career as a television showrunner, producer and writer. Along the way, he’ll explore the dynamics of creating memorable television, regardless of whether it’s for a network or a streamer. His talk will resonate with anyone who mulls the question: what does it mean to be nimble and learn how to pivot over the course of a creative career?

Sardo has been a showrunner for both comedy and drama series. He has worked on hundreds of episodes of television, including The Tracey Ullman Show, Grace Under Fire, Wings, Picket Fences, Caroline in the City, American Embassy and Rizzoli & Isles. He was the creator, showrunner and executive producer of the series Fairly Legal and Normal. Michael has developed and written series pilots for HBO Max, Showtime, Starz, TNT, ABC, NBC, Lifetime and USA networks, HBO Independent Productions, Witt/Thomas, NBC Productions, Universal Cable Productions, MGM Television, and many others.

Want to explore the dynamics of creating an original television series with an accomplished TV showrunner-writer-producer as your guide? Michael is teaching the upcoming workshop Creating & Pitching a TV Show at Maine Media from June 26-30. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity!
