Arnold Newman Lecture Series: Sal Taylor Kydd, Shana & Robert ParkeHarrison

Join us for the first event in our 2023 Arnold Newman Lecture Series! Photographers Sal Taylor Kydd and Shana and Robert ParkeHarrison will each share their work, speak about their photographic experience, and answer questions from the audience.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available on campus.
Maine-based photographic artist and writer Sal Taylor Kydd uses various photographic media in a personal narrative that explores themes around memory and belonging; combining her poetry with alternative processes of photography and object-making. Her fine art photographs have been exhibited both domestically and internationally, including the UK, Barcelona, San Miguel De Allende, Portland, Boston and Los Angeles; and she has been featured in numerous publications, including Shots Magazine, Don’t Take Pictures, Lenscratch, Diffusion Annual and The Hand.
Sal will be on campus teaching The Lyrical Photograph the week of the lecture (JUN 19–23).
Shana and Robert ParkeHarrison construct fantasies in the guise of environmental performances for the protagonists of their images. The artists combine elaborate sets within vast landscapes to address issues surrounding man’s relationship to the earth and technology while additionally delving into the human condition. Their works are included in numerous collections including Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Chicago and Mudam Luxembourg, and more. They have exhibited in over 45 solo exhibitions and over 100 group exhibitions and festivals, and have published two monographs.
Shana and Robert will be on campus teaching Nature, Content, Camera the week of this lecture (JUN 19–23).
