WHAT MAKES MAINE MEDIA COLLEGE UNIQUE?
Now in its fifth decade as one of the world’s leading centers for studying film and photography, students have come to this idyllic coastal harbor in midcoast Maine to study at close range with masters in their mediums. Our programs are intensive, immersive, and intimate.
Maine Media College offers students an unparalleled opportunity to develop mentoring relationships over an extended period of time with celebrated artists who can help them take their work to new levels.
OUR COLLEGE PROGRAMS
Maine Media College offers students of all ages the opportunity to focus deeply on their creative work under the guidance of experienced faculty and accomplished professionals. Whether it is in one of our 30-week Certificate Programs, or the low-residency Master of Fine Arts in Media Arts, you will have time to intensely hone your craft, pursue your passion, find your voice, and build a sustainable creative practice or career in filmmaking, photography, multi-media, or the exciting converging intersections of these media arts.
THE COAST OF MAINE SETS THE STAGE
Being in residence in Rockport, Maine for one of our certificate programs gives you a chance to leave behind distractions and daily demands and concentrate on nothing but your work within a supportive creative community. This idyllic setting sets the stage for a unique and immersive experience. Under the intimate guidance of experienced faculty and accomplished professionals, you will leave with one or more serious portfolios of work or a reel from your time in the program. Small class size ensures maximum access to instructors, equipment and facilities.
BE GUIDED BY ACCOMPLISHED MENTORS
Our low-residency Master of Fine Arts program allows you to live and work anywhere in the world, come together in a creative community twice each year, and engage in a three-year conversation about your work with your chosen mentor or mentors, an advisor, and the sustained attention of all of the program’s core faculty and acclaimed guest faculty. It’s a unique experience. In the words of one of our alumni: “Maine Media College is an inspiring place where I've found my voice as an artist. The faculty pushes you to cross your own boundaries. Every retreat is a source of inspiration and creative energy.“
IT’S ABOUT CREATING
Both Certificate and Degree programs are all about making – making films, making images, creating installations, or books. Students wade into the fluidity of where we are as a storytelling culture, exploring classical, new and emerging platforms. They leave with the knowledge that they have skills and confidence to take risks in their creative work and to pursue their chosen path in the field of media arts.
