Since the workshops inception, master photographers have taught here including Ernst Haas, Arnold Newman, Mary Ellen Mark, and Paul Caponigro. They mentored an ever-widening circle of successful artists many of whom teach workshops today – Joyce Tenneson, Sam Abell, Cig Harvey, Peter Turnley, Arthur Meyerson, Sean Kernan, Brenton Hamilton – to name just a few.
They are joined by an expanding list of fine art photographers, photojournalists, and others who are gifted teachers in a variety of historic and digital forms of photography. In the film industry, Woody Allen’s editor Ralph Rosenblum loved teaching here so much he requested that his ashes be buried here, now marked by a granite stone on the lawn by the sound stage.
Each year outstanding cinematographers, editors, screenwriters, sound engineers and more take time out from their successful careers to share their knowledge with aspiring filmmakers, and help them advance their careers.
Our faculty has included Oscar and Emmy Award-winning film professionals, directors, writers, cinematographers and editors whose credits include classic films and iconic shows like Titanic, Jaws, Breaking Bad, Annie Hall, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Argo, Birdman, The Revenant, Citizenfour, Almost Famous, Seinfeld, Law & Order, Elementary, 60 Minutes, Weeds, The Simpsons, 30 Rock, 24, NCIS, and the Affair.
