Prize
One photographer will receive a Canon EOS R50 and one filmmaker will receive a Canon EOS R50V camera. The winning photograph and film will be showcased on Maine Media’s website and social media accounts.
The winners will be announced on November 24, 2026.
Entry Guidelines:
Entrants must use a Canon product in creating their submission. Only one entry per person. The competition is open to all on-campus workshop students of Maine Media. Entrants under 18 years of age are required to obtain permission from a parent or guardian to participate. The winner will be notified via email sent to their registered email address. All decisions are final.
How to submit films & stills:
Photographers:
• Submit up to five JPEGs.
• Minimum requirements: 2000 pixel width, 72 ppi.
• Note the name and dates of the workshop in which the submission was created.
• Include your full name.
• Include the Canon camera and lens used to create the submission.
• Include your Instagram account name.
• Email submission to canon@mainemedia.edu by 5pm EST on October 31, 2026.
Filmmakers:
• Submit one film clip (maximum run time five minutes) by way of a Vimeo link.
• Note the name and dates of the workshop in which the submission was created.
• Include the Canon camera and/or lens used to create the submission.
• Include your full name.
• Include your Instagram account name.
• Email submission to canon@mainemedia.edu by 5pm EST on October 31, 2026.
The winners will be decided by an internal panel of judges
In compliance with all relevant legal regulations, the winners of the competition will grant Canon USA, Inc. and Maine Media explicit permission to utilize their submitted photographs and films for promotional purposes on our official social media networks and websites. This inclusion is aimed at promoting and celebrating the winner’s work and artistic creativity. Moreover, subject to technical feasibility and in accordance with applicable data protection laws, Canon USA, Inc. and Maine Media will endeavor to appropriately acknowledge and/or mention the winner in our social communications, further elevating their achievements and talents.
