A mentored program of technical workshops, Master Classes, field and lab work.

Develop yourself as a photographer! Spend 12 weeks in Rockport this summer attending Master Classes and workshops while working one-on-one with a Mentor from our Resident Faculty.

The 2017 schedule will be posted around January 1.

The Summer Intensive program offers students the chance to design a sequence of master classes and workshops in their specified area of interest, enhancing your current skill set. At our program you will have the opportunity to develop your portfolio in our specialized alternative process lab, digital printing labs and commercial studio space  while engaging with two hundred plus artists a week, and working with 8 premiere faculty of your choice. Plus we will pair you with a mentor from our resident faculty. Because you can design this intensive to fit your specific needs, it is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about their art.

Each 12-week intensive consists of eight workshop weeks, with an additional four weeks included for one-on-one mentoring with a member of the resident faculty at the Workshops. The first week and last week of the intensive are reserved for mentored weeks.

Students may elect to concentrate their work solely in one field, or design a program that encompasses interests in a variety of areas. All Maine-based workshops offered in 2016 are available as part of a intensive program.

Summer Intensives are available in the following areas:

  • Digital Photography
  • Fine Art Digital Printmaking
  • Fine Art Photography
  • Traditional B&W Printmaking
  • Alternative & Historic Processes & Printmaking
  • Documentary & Photojournalism
  • Nature, Landscape, & Travel Photography
  • Commercial & Studio Photography

Students of all levels are welcome to apply. The process begins by completing an application, either online or by calling 877-577-7700 (toll free), 207-236-8581 (internationally). Students should then submit a brief statement of interest and goals for the intensive, a portfolio (websites are fine), and an initial listing of workshops they wish to attend.  Upon receipt of all materials, a staff faculty member will contact the student and together they will design an intensive program. The intensive must be a contiguous block of time.

A deposit of $1500 is required at the time of registration.
