NOTE: This class will be held in an online format using the Zoom Platform.
This Series is Made Up of 3 Sessions: Winter, Spring & Summer. courses may be Taken Individually or bundled together for a discount. See details below

This series of classes combines bookmaking, writing, and sketching to help you support and develop a practice of daily observation meant to support you as an artist, whatever your field. Through a series of cross-disciplinary exercises provided by the instructor, each participant will devise a self-directed habit of direct engagement with the natural world around them. Exercises will help you sharpen your observational skills, build on your current habits of recording/note-taking, develop your associative sense, and flex the parts of your creative brain you may not always put to full use. Participants will be offered individual consultations to engage with their particular surroundings and develop their projects as well as supportive, encouraging group feedback. Using observations and material collected through these exercises, participants will make works that express or embody their experience of place and season. Seasonal suggested reading lists will be provided.

Each of the classes builds on the last, but participants are welcome to take any combination. These classes are meant to give participants a chance to encounter their surroundings deeply and with care, and to develop an ongoing practice of attention that will feed their creative work in any discipline. You do not need to be an experienced writer or artist to take these courses.
