Kickstart your photography collection and increase your confidence with this non-stop, fact-filled two-day ‘bootcamp’ in New York City, filled with collecting tips, how to care for your collection and behind-the-scene visits. Taught by a collecting pioneer, Alice Zimet.
Day #1 Friday 10:00 – 5:00. Begins in the classroom (at the leader’s home, surrounded by her private collection) with a slide presentation providing an overview of the marketplace: issues before spending a penny, questions to ask, where to shop, pricing, stamps, signatures, editions, dealing with galleries, buying at auction and tons of insider tips! We’ll also discuss how to insure and appraise your photographs, keep proper records and ‘best practices’ to correctly and safely frame your images.
On Day #2 Saturday 11:00-6:00. We hit the road and go behind-the-scenes to visit some of New York’s most prominent photography galleries. We’ll meet the dealers and look at work up close with the ability to ask those real-life questions you’ve always wanted to ask!
For the beginner to more seasoned collector, or the photographer looking to better understand the marketplace. Optional Dutch Treat drinks conclude Saturday’s visits. Abundant handouts provided.Price of $595 per person includes lunch on Day #1 ( Day #2 lunch will be on your own)
