You know that story you’ve been meaning to write? It’s not gonna write itself. Seize the day, well six weeks, to be exact! Not everyone has a book in them, but most people have a story they’re driven to write. If you’ve been yearning to tell one particular story, this course is for you.

Are you ready to bring it to the page? Then stand back and let the story find its way, possibly even healing, liberating, or transforming you in the process.

We’ll start by working in small format – getting ideas and structure down on sticky notes and index cards. The intimidation factor shrinks and before you know it – stories are underway. During this workshop, you’ll be supported in expanding your foundational work to a larger format, where it begins to take on shape and depth.

This class is designed to remove the pressure and obstacles people so often feel when they decide they want to write something. You don’t necessarily need to write a book, but this is an opportunity to start a story or several shorter pieces of fiction, nonfiction, or memoir.

Each session will feature a lecture, student work sharing and group feedback, and in-class prompts. During the week, students will work on an assignment to be shared in the following session. Students will end the workshop with one long piece or several shorter pieces of developed writing.
