Jamie Murphy is a world-renowned letterpress artist and typographer, specializing in innovative, hand-set typographical layouts for fine books and broadsides. In this one-week workshop, students will focus on experimenting with various hand-set typographical iterations of a single text, exploring how layout and design can impact a finished piece. Special consideration will be given to the areas of idea generation, planning, experimentation, layout, and structure, before students hand set type and letterpress their project. The class will also address finishing and presentation.
This is Jamie Murphy’s first ever workshop in the United States, please join us for this exciting and momentous week!
