FINANCE AID (TITLE IV) & ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

JOB CLASS: Part-time, Non-exempt (15 hours per week)
COMPENSATION: $20 per hour
REPORTS TO: Director, Finance and Administration
SUMMARY
The Financial Aid/Accounting Assistant has strong communication and organization skills and is responsible for coordinating the Title IV financial aid requirements at Maine Media Workshops + College. They serve as the key liaison with students requesting Title IV Aid and Title IV consultants. In addition, they support routine accounting functions of the school. The responsibilities of this position are carried out under the guidance of the Director, Finance and Administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Financial Aid/Accounting Assistant supports four primary areas: Title IV aid; general accounting; audit; and budget.
For Financial Aid
- Gather and review student financial aid forms for completeness and accuracy
- Resolve application questions with students
- Process all aid requests on Solfia software from packaging to disbursement
- Maintain quality assurance folders for each Title IV student
- Respond to audit requests
- Continued Title IV training through webinars and Aid bulletins
For Accounting Support
- Enter and scan monthly Journal Entries
- Gather information needed for yearly budget
- Assist with yearly audit requests
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree accounting or business preferred
- Prior use of QuickBooks or similar accounting software
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail – oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as member of team
- Self – motivated and able to work independently when necessary
- Familiarity with software tools such as acrobat, excel, word, google docs, zoom
