Maine Media College proudly announces that it has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, marking its first collaboration with the renowned foundation. This substantial grant of $45,000 is dedicated to renovating the campus library, a critical space supporting students, faculty, and community members in their creative pursuits. Additionally, this project is supported by an anonymous donor who inspired the renovation project.

The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation is recognized for its commitment to education, literacy, and the arts. It has aligned its vision with Maine Media College’s commitment to nurturing creativity and innovation in its community. This generous grant signifies a pivotal milestone, one of the most substantial awards in the school’s 50-year history, empowering the revitalization of the college’s library to provide an enhanced learning environment for students pursuing various disciplines within media arts.

“We are deeply honored and grateful to the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation for their generous support of Maine Media College,” said Michael Mansfield, President of Maine Media College. “This grant will significantly impact the educational experience of our students by modernizing our library facilities, expanding access to essential resources, and furthering our commitment to excellence in media education.”

The collaborative effort between the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation and the anonymous donor will propel the library renovation project forward, facilitating essential upgrades that include finishing the 1,000-square-foot space and furnishing it with appropriate library shelving, tables, and chairs. With the planned design of the library, Maine Media will have room for over 7,500 titles. In its new space, the library’s collections and archives will be consolidated and accessible to students, faculty, and community members.

“The Maine Media Library Project aligned perfectly with the mission of the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation. We were happy to lend our support to this project!” said Stephanie Leonard, Administrator, Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation.

This grant, complemented by the anonymous donor’s generosity, not only signifies a substantial leap in Maine Media College’s infrastructure development but also reinforces its commitment to providing students with an exceptional learning environment aligned with the evolving landscape of the media and arts industries. Maine Media College looks forward to the long-lasting impact of the collaboration with the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation.
