PhoPa Gallery is our Portland exhibition space where we feature (pho)tography and works on (pa)per by Maine-based artists. At PhoPa we maintain a special focus on highlighting emerging artists rarely seen in Portland, in addition to showcasing work by members of the Maine Media community. PhoPa is a collaboration among independent curator and collector Bruce Brown, photographer Jon Edwards and Maine Media Workshops + College (MMW+C) and all profits from sales at PhoPa are donated to MMW+C. We are excited to be entering our fifth year hosting exhibitions and gatherings in Portland’s artistic community!
PhoPa is open Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm, and by appointment.
Current Exhibition: Jim Nickelson | Cosmos
On view from June 13-July 28, 2018, Cosmos is a selection of photographs by Jim Nickelson that explores the way that human kind grapples with the unknown, particularly as it pertains to science and cosmology.
Upcoming Exhibition: Liminal
Liminal showcases projects from seven artists at the start of their careers. Through the medium of photography, these artists look thoughtfully at spaces that are often neglected by mainstream society and find comfort and inspiration on the margins of our everyday experience.
The schedule for 2018 has been filled. PhoPa Gallery usually accepts submissions for shows in the upcoming year each October. You can read more about submission guidelines by clicking the LEARN MORE button.
