Valerie Carrigan makes prints and artist books under the imprint Messenger Press. Through monotype, relief and letterpress printing, she explores the intersection of the natural world and the human spirit. Her artist books are in prominent collections across the U. S. including the Smith College Book Arts Collection, University of Vermont Arts of the Book Collection, and University of Denver Special Collections among others. Valerie was recently the Book Artist in Residence at Maine Media Workshops + College in Rockport, Maine, where she completed a limited edition artist book to be debuted in the winter of 2016. Valerie holds an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from The University of the Arts and an M.ED from Western Washington University. She maintains an art studio in a renovated historic mill in North Adams, MA.
