FILM TECHNICIAN INTERN

Compensation: Accommodations (shared room/bath) plus meals when campus kitchen is serving (Sunday dinner through Friday dinner).

The responsibilities of this position are carried out under the guidance of the Film Program Manager and the Tech Department Manager. This individual must have experience in the field, a technical background, and the capability to work well with groups of people and in one on one situations. The individual should be well organized, responsible, personable, dependable, and a creative problem solver.
Basic Qualifications and Criteria
- Pursuing bachelors in filmmaking, media or a related field, or equivalent vocational training
- Portfolio or reel representing your work
- Mac/PC knowledge
- Customer service experience and strong organization skills
- Experience working on a film production
- Knowledge of basic lighting and grip equipment
- Able to troubleshoot technical issues with various cinema camera systems
- Willing to help with repairs and maintenance of equipment
What will be learned
The Film Technician Intern will learn how to provide support to a film production, from putting together a camera package to organizing a list of equipment and packing it all in a production trailer. Proper maintenance and repair of studio lights, camera accessories, tripods and other camera support systems will be part of the learning experience of this position. Interns will learn the responsibilities associated with operating a film equipment studio.
The Intern Experience
Each intern is assigned to a specific area where they will learn and assist instructors, fellow staff members and/or students with various projects. Each intern is responsible for managing their time wisely, while we do have work to do, we strongly encourage you to take the time to make images/films and enjoy in the Maine landscape. Interns are allowed access to our facilities when not in use by a class; this can be discussed with your supervisor. Round table portfolio and reel sharing events will be offered to the interns and TAs weekly. This will include a rotation of upper level staff and faculty.
