Jeffrey Hagerman graduated from the Vancouver Film School with a concentration in cinematography in 2002. His early training was focused exclusively on film, but he was an early adopter of digital technologies, which have become so prevalent today. Early on his talents landed him a lead role shooting and producing content at the independent media outlet, Democracy Now. Jeffrey took a cinéma vérité approach using compact digital cameras to develop a unique style to his reportage that strongly informs his cinematography to this day. He transitioned to high end post production in 2008 when he began working as a director of operations at the ad agency, JWT. Through this immersion in technology he worked to bridge the gap between the two worlds of set and post. Jeffrey’s steadfast approach to integrating technology on set with filmmaking lead him to work on a variety of 2D and 3D content using the latest camera systems Arri, Red, Sony and VRI.

Some recent projects in which Jeffrey has used the cutting edge camera technology coupled with on set workflows as an On Set Colorist include the widely popular Marvel series DareDevil, Showtime’s recent Happyish, USA Networks Mr. Robot, as well as a number of feature films including Philomena, Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit, White House Down, Disconnect, and Sisters. Jeffrey’s commercial work includes Under Armor, Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, Pantene Pro V, as well as music videos for Beyonce, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mariah Carey, Jim Jones, and many more.

As a member of the International Cinematographer’s Guild Jeffrey’s passions have taken him on projects the world over, but he always enjoys coming home to his beautiful wife Julia and their home in New York City.

Recent credits include the Adam Sandler feature Spaceman and season 2 of the Showtime series City on a Hill, on which he was also the director of photography on 4 episodes.
