Our Faculty

Since the workshops inception, master photographers have taught here including Ernst Haas, Arnold Newman, Mary Ellen Mark, and Paul Caponigro. They've mentored an ever-widening circle of successful artists, many of whom also teach workshops here today – Joyce Tenneson, Sam Abell, Cig Harvey, Peter Turnley, Arthur Meyerson, Sean Kernan, and Brenton Hamilton - to name a few. They are joined by an expanding list of fine art photographers, photojournalists, and other gifted teachers in a variety of historic and digital forms of photography, as well as book arts, design, and writing.

Teachers and Student Mentors Who Are Masters
of Their Craft

Our Filmmaking faculty includes Oscar and Emmy Award-winning film professionals, whose credits include iconic shows and classic films like Titanic, Jaws, Breaking Bad, Apocalypse Now, Annie Hall, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Almost Famous, Kill Bill, The Hateful Eight, Lost in Translation, Seinfeld, Friends, Law & Order, 60 Minutes, Frontline, Weeds, Madmen, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under, House, The West Wing, The Simpsons, 30 Rock, 24, NCIS, The Affair, Parts Unknown and Entourage.

Each year these outstanding cinematographers, directors, editors, screenwriters, sound engineers and more take time out from their successful careers to share their knowledge with aspiring filmmakers, and help them advance their careers. Woody Allen’s editor Ralph Rosenblum loved teaching at Maine Media so much, he requested that his ashes be buried here, now marked by a granite stone on the lawn outside of the sound stage.
