Maine Media Gallery is pleased to announce pop-up art show Wayfaring featuring work by Drew Cornwall, Ashley Craig, Alec Kaus, Christine Moriello, and Harrison Walker. The exhibition will be on view from May 10-May 20. An Opening Reception will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 5-6:30pm.
Wayfaring features the work of five emerging photographers who all currently live and work in midcoast Maine. The work on view presents each artist’s exploration of place and identity. Hailing from different parts of the country, these photographers have each found themselves in Maine for the moment. Each artist lends their photographic voice to the themes of home, new or adopted, growth, and a search for identity. Capturing expansive landscapes, idiosyncratic interiors, and the people they encounter along the way, these photographers present the world around them through imagery that is both fresh and evocative.
Drew Cornwall is a versatile photographic artist and fine art printer from Florida based in Camden, Maine. After freelancing in his hometown and contributing to publications such as Fort Lauderdale Magazine and being the Assistant Editor for Skimboard Magazine, he received a BFA in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where he developed a portfolio that includes both commercial and fine art imagery.
Ashley Elizabeth Craig is an artist and educator living in Camden, Maine. She received a BMA in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina and an MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia. She is the Photography Program Director at Maine Media Workshops + College.
Alec Kaus is an artist and photographer currently living and working in Maine. He holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he served as President of the Fine Art Photo Club and worked as the Gallery Assistant at Prescott Gallery.
Christine Moriello grew up on a fourth generation apple farm in the Hudson Valley of New York. Spending hours outdoors and among nature as a child made her introspective and sensitive. Christine received her Bachelor of Arts in History at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. She lives in Rockland, Maine with her golden retriever Violet.
Harrison Walker received his MFA in Photography at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA. He currently lives in Rockport, Maine while working at Maine Media Workshops + College. Walker is interested in the visual language created by the limits of the basic chemical components in photography and explores this through abstract forms often containing little to no subject.
