Description

The responsibilities of this position are carried out under the guidance of the Director of Operations and Production and the Locations & Talent Manager. This individual must be organized with special attention to detail. They must be able to communicate clearly and effectively across departments and with members of the community. This is a high-energy position that works with both photography and filmmaking faculty. The intern will be checking in with the Locations & Talent Manager regularly to be sure that all needs of the classes are being met.

Qualifications and Criteria

  • Act as an ambassador of Maine Media in fostering new relationships with the community
  • Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing) in media arts or management
  • Prior experience in production and casting is a plus
  • Experience with locations permits and releases
  • A familiarity with the surrounding area is a plus
  • A vehicle is necessary for this position
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Highly organized

What will be learned

The Intern will learn all aspects of pre-production and production as related to film and photography production. This includes location scouting, talent management, obtaining permits and permissions for location releases, acting and talent releases, and professional set safety and etiquette practices.

The Intern Experience

Each intern is assigned to a specific area where they will learn and assist instructors, fellow staff members and/or students with various projects. Each intern is responsible for managing their time wisely, while we do have work to do, we strongly encourage you to take the time to make images/films and enjoy in the Maine landscape. Interns are allowed access to our facilities when not in use by a class; this can be discussed with your supervisor. Round table portfolio sharing events will be offered to the interns and TA’s weekly. This will include a rotation of upper level staff and faculty.
