Dining

Dining at the Workshops is a community affair.

To make use of every possible minute, and so that you can meet and talk with the Faculty and fellow workshop participants, The Workshops provides a family dining atmosphere.  The Workshops is famous for its food, which is hearty, ample and served buffet style under a large tent in a delightful setting. You can eat all you want. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the grounds providing an informal setting for students and faculty to dine and discuss the day's discoveries.

Breakfast includes juices, hot and cold cereals, homemade granola, muffins and pastries, fresh fruit salad, assorted egg dishes, pancakes and French toast. Lunch includes a salad and sandwich bar and a wide variety of summer salads and desserts as well as hot and cold entrees. Picnic lunches and dinners are provided for classes working in the field. Dinner includes poultry and fish dishes, frequent meat entrees and various rice, pasta and potato dishes, hot and cold vegetables and a salad bar. Vegetarian entrees are provided as well. Special diets can be accommodated if you notify our chef of your needs and restrictions prior to arrival.

The meal plan begins with the Sunday evening dinner, includes breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the week, and ends with Saturday brunch. The Friday lobster dinner is a complete banquet with lobster, steak and grilled Portobello mushrooms, along with baked potatoes, corn and dessert. Following the banquet, the Wrap Party presents screenings of the week's work and a lot of fun.

Beverages: coffee, tea and lemonade are provided throughout the day.

For weekend courses, meals begin at Thursday night's dinner and go through lunch on Sunday. The meal plan is included in the combined Accommodations and Meal Price. Meals alone (without accommodations) are $240 for the week. Everyone attending a workshop, unless a resident of the immediate area, is required to participate in the meal plan.

Guests of Workshops participants may eat at The Homestead for $45 per day. The Friday evening lobster banquet costs $25 for those not on the meal plan - guests and family are welcome.
