A week-long workshop for the self-publisher-to-be

 Bill CrawfordThe rise of online opportunities to print photography books has self-publishers flocking to the internet to create their books at home. The capability of creating beautiful books online is cause for celebration. Join our instructor for a week of inspiration, discussion and creation with one goal in mind: your own photo book.

Students learn to evaluate the options and capabilities of online publishing using Adobe Software. Students discover and explore the power of using Photoshop within the bookmaking workflow to create layout designs using InDesign.

Color management workflow, including softproofing in Photoshop and InDesign with ICC color profiles, is explained and followed to insure that both black and white and color books are published in a consistent manner. In addition to learning the software, editing, sequencing, and individual options such as text are covered to encompass the full realm of bookmaking, from dust jackets to paper options.

Class Needs: Students are to bring 30-40 images in digital form they wish to have made into a book. By week's end, participants upload their new book ready for ordering at a Blurb sponsored discounted rate.

Prerequsite: Computer literacy and basic Lightroom and Photoshop skills are required.

Winter/Spring lodging and meal package availablen for $450. Includes breakfast and lunch Monday - Friday. Dinner services are not available during our Winter/Spring session.
