Philosophical storytelling is a combination of deep research on topics and issues along with going beyond the expected and simplistic photographic story. John requests that each photographer approach his/her project lyrically — nearly musically — while bringing to the finished essay a rooted and unexpected perspective of events which not only manifested themselves naturally, but also grew to unforeseen importance because of scrutiny done before ever taking out the camera.
