Finding Time for Photography

Focus on strategies to make your life less stressful, more productive and more enjoyable

If you love photography but are constantly frustrated because you “never seem to have enough time” to fit it into your hectic schedule, this course is for you.  Lead by a professional fine art photographer / physician / husband / father / triathlete / etc., this weekend mini-course helps you identify stumbling blocks to “getting your house in order.” We focus on strategies to help make your life less stressful, more productive and more enjoyable not only as an artist but also in other aspects of your life. We discuss practical, realistic ways to accomplish your day-to-day and long-term objectives. It’s hoped that by the end of the weekend, you’ll have a more clear understanding of how the skills you develop as a photographer can be an asset to fulfilling life’s other goals rather than an escape from them.

We cover topics ranging from nutrition and exercise to photographic goals.  Whenever possible, we take advantage of the outdoors and make new images.  Jon is also available for private portfolio reviews.

The course is suitable for both amateurs and professionals, i.e. anyone with a passion for photography.

Lunch is included for both days, other meals are on your own.

Jon has had one foot in the arts and the other in the sciences for over 30 years. He began his love affair with photography as a young child working in his father’s darkroom. Jon expanded his artistic horizons, becoming a nationally recognized clarinetist who toured Europe with the National Youth Symphony. These passions, combined with his fascination with the sciences, resulted in Jon’s decision to pursue a major in chemistry at Emory University with a minor in the Arts.

After college he pursued a degree in Medicine and then began his practice as a physician. However, throughout his medical career he never abandoned his love for the arts.  He took photography courses at night while simultaneously completing his residency and then honed his artistic skills further after entering private practice.

More recently he became a certified Health Coach through the Integrative Medicine Program at Duke University.  Jon now works full-time as a professional Fine Art photographer and Group Life Coach except when teaching medicine to physicians in countries around the world.

Each of Jon’s bodies of work tends to focus on topics that deal with personal growth while promoting dialogue, understanding and mutual respect.  He is also a frequent speaker and course director on topics related to maintaining relevance and a healthy balance within our lives.

His captivating images have won numerous national awards and have drawn the attention of private and corporate collectors worldwide. Jon’s artwork has also been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the country and in many prominent photography magazines.
