Considering the Portrait

Get under the skin of your subject and make compelling images

©GoodmanThis class examines the relationship of photographer to subject in contemporary portraiture. Emphasis is put on the ways to develop trust, collaborate, and explore your subject as a means to get under the skin and make compelling images.  Portraiture is always an exchange, it is perhaps the ultimate conversation that a photographer can have with his/her subject.  The process is challenging, delicate and extremely gratifying when you do make contact and the person is revealed.

Work from the great portrait photographers is shown and discussed, daily individual shooting assignments are given along with class critiques as we explore new methods to push your photography forward and get under the skin.  Any means of image capture is acceptable from digital to an 8x10 view cameras.
