Explore a variety of ways to create high quality black-and-white photographs using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Camera Raw software with digital or film cameras.
Among the topics covered are: optimizing digital cameras for black and white, scanning film, converting color images to black and white, advanced image adjustments, extending the dynamic range, color toning, and various papers, rips, and printers for output. During location field trips and critiques, students explore the visual aspects of the black-and-white image.
Students should have familiarity with Photoshop prior to taking this course.
