The new world of online publication has brought exciting opportunities to the imagemaker’s fingertips. From the established artist to the enthusiastic beginner, these newfound capabilities have self-publishers creating books in the comfort of their own homes at a remarkably affordable price. This shift in workflow and opportunity is cause for celebration.
From technology to creativity, students in this workshop discover the myriad of possibilities Blurb has to offer. Students explore the power of Blurb's BookSmart software to create dynamic layout designs, and will spend time examining beautifully designed books for inspiration. Color management workflow is explained and followed to insure that both B&W and color books are published in a consistent manner.
In addition to learning the software, participants study and explore the full realm of bookmaking including editing, sequencing, layouts, text, dust jackets and paper options. By weeks end, participants upload their new book ready for ordering from Blurb. Students are to bring a "rough edit" of digital images they wish to have made into a book.
Computer literacy and basic Lightroom and/or Photoshop skills are required.
